For more than fifty years, quality has been our watchword. Selling meat has always been a serious business for us. It was back in 1964 that my parent’s opened their first butcher’s shop here in Alghero, on Via Sant’Agostino. It didn’t take long before numerous customers realised what we were all about and made us their butcher of choice. Back in those days, the livestock was raised by my father, Carmine Soddu, on our farm, while my mother Lia was in charge of selling through the shop.

Demand was so great that in 1970 we opened two shops in the Pietraia area, and in 1972 a third – the most famous of all – the “historic” unit on Via Don Minzoni. If you were to ask around, perhaps most of the older customers would still remember my mother, who never stood still even for a minute – she was forever chopping away.

But perhaps they would also recall when we had to close everything, in 1997, due to competition from supermarkets. In 2001, the business was re-born in San Quirico, and since then it’s been me – Michele Soddu – at the helm, with the help of my own family.

The commitment that has guided us all along the way has been to bring to your table the finest meats – meats that are delicious, good for you and, last but by no means least, entirely Sardinian. As things stand, I would have to say that it is not easy to find companies like us, which prioritise the health and wellbeing of the livestock, rather than focusing entirely on profit. But we have survived, and today as before San Quirico guarantees you meat of the best quality, such as our unbeatable, 100% Sardinian heifer, or our Sardinian pork, which is exquisite and exceptionally healthy. We go to great lengths to ensure customer satisfaction, and we like to have direct relationships with everyone. It is an honour for us to show you just how hygienically and carefully we treat our livestock, and we hope you get a sense of how much passion we put into the work we do.
